Hi all, i would just like to say a big thank you to all of you who commented on my Davis Cup performance and my rather long match in the play-offs. It was such a tremendous honour to play for Great Britain. It has given me so much confidence and i have learnt so much that now i feel like i’ m better player just from 2 weeks. I just hope i can play myself into the next match and have a better team result! Thanks again for the support.
Gruelling day yesterday. Great to win, need my body to recover for tomorrow. And eat 5,000 calories !!!
Off to Glasgow today for the 1st tournament of the season. A futures event.
It has been an exhausting training spell this winter but I am faster and stronger.
Can’t wait to get back on court !!
I have just started my 6 week pre-season training block 2 prepare me for another long tough year next year. This consists of weights everyday alternating upper and lower body, lots of stomach exercises, balance, and shoulder strength work to prevent any injuries, cardio track sessions in the freezing cold outside in Wimbledon park and hot bikram yoga in a room of 40 degrees Celsius.
This is very grueling and demanding period but its just as important to being successful as the playing and winning of matches.
The past week has been very exciting for me as I have just received my new Seat Ibiza car from Spur Garage as a sponsorship deal. It really does make a difference driving a car which has everything working.
I am off this weekend for a couple of big ATP events, which i will play qualifying in. The first is in metz, France and then i go onto Stockholm to play another big ATP event. These are the top level tournaments and to be in the main draw you have to be inside 70 in the world. I am massively looking forward to this challenge and hope that i can put my tennis up against the best in the world again!
I have spent the last couple of days practising at Wimbledon with the Davis Cup team, which was great fun and a good experience.
I am planning to go to Grenoble next week to try and qualify for a large Challeger tourney, but I’m ill so may decide not to travel.
Last week I lost in the 2nd round of the singles which was disappointing.
The doubles went much better and we were runners up, winning the quarters & semis in the champions tie break, which doubles events now have in place of a 3rd set.
Spent yesterday travelling to Mulhouse for the 1st indoor event of the autumn which will start tomorrow.
I am now in Bagneres-de-Bigorre in France playing in a $15k Futures event.
Won my 1st round singles yesterday 8-6 in the 3rd set tiebreak. Also won doubles 6-4 6-4.
Tough day but good.
